About

Welcome.

This little corner of the internet isn’t a business. It’s not a brand. It’s not optimized for clicks, and you won’t find ads, affiliate links, or pop-ups asking you to subscribe.

It’s just a place for me—Andrew—to tell stories.

Some are personal. Some are historical. Some blur the lines between memory and imagination. I write about my family, mostly. About lives that came before mine. About loss, resilience, strange coincidences, and the quiet beauty of things we almost forgot.

I also have a long-standing fascination with baseball history, particularly anything related to Mike Schmidt. Somewhere along the way, that interest evolved into a searchable archive of Mike Schmidt cards, memorabilia, photos, programs, and other oddball collectibles. It’s a little out of place here, but then again, so are most of the things worth keeping.

I don’t do this professionally. I have a job I love that’s not writing (or investigating blank-back 1970s team issue Mike Schmidt cards). But storytelling scratches a different itch. It’s where I challenge myself. Where I explore meaning. Where I try to make sense of what we carry, and what we leave behind.

I started this site on a whim—mostly because I liked the domain name. roots.beer. A nod to genealogy and, well, beer. Seemed funny at the time. Still kind of does.

You’re welcome to read, wander, and linger here. I built this mostly for myself, but also for family and friends—and anyone else who’s ever gone digging through old boxes and found something that made them pause.

There’s no mission statement. No upload schedule. Just stories, told with care. Thanks for stopping by.

Have a beer, ya turkey.

Andrew
