Listed on eBay simply as a 3x5 autographed photo, I was super pumped to pick up this hard-to-find card. I was iffy on the non-COA “auto” at first, but it matched the ‘75 Phillies Yearbook. I realized then that it was likely a facsimile signature, even though I'd only ever seen the version with no signature. The team frequently had both versions. And that's also why I buy the beat up team yearbooks, programs and brochures - they're perfect for this kind of research.

At some point the hobby decided that "Mike Schmidt appears somewhere in this crowd" was a legitimate collecting category. Nobody remembers exactly when things went off the rails.

I don't know much about these brown backs other than that they're scarce. Looking at completed eBay auctions, it appears one of these sold in May 2026 for 99 cents. The seller likely didn't know what it was. I'm curious if the buyer did either. Of course, this means there is a brown back panel to chase as well. I don't have a picture for one with Schmidt, unfortunately.
