1977 PEPSI-COLA BASEBALL STARS DISCS MIKE SCHMIDT WITH GLOVE TAB-GREEN
Owned ✅, PSA Grade: 6
This is the only one of these I have slabbed, and for good reason — they're enormous. When I was just getting back into collecting, I hadn't purchased any of the larger MSA discs. I only had a Burger Chef disc, so in my mind I think I figured the discs in the center of these Pepsi gloves were the same size. I'd never seen or heard of a PSA “jumbo” holder before either. I had no idea what I was buying. Then this thing shows up, roughly the size of a small cutting board. I have no clue what to do with it. Display it? Weird. Put it in a binder? It's too big. Maybe it would make a nice doggy door.

Future archaeologists will assume this was some sort of ceremonial serving platter.

At least one seller on eBay believes there are five Pepsi disc colors, with two of them being a light blue and, uh, a lighter light blue. Side-by-side, eh, I guess I can see a small difference. I've attached the listing — you be the judge.

This is the cardboard equivalent of wine tasting notes. "Hints of turquoise, followed by a subtle finish of slightly different turquoise.”

1977 PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES POSTCARDS TEAM ISSUE MIKE SCHMIDT ACTION
Owned ✅
My copy has a few pin holes in it and has been autographed, so it's not exactly in ideal condition. But it was the first copy I'd actually seen listed, and, per usual, the seller had no idea what it was — so I jumped. Of course this means that next week three will be listed, all in better shape and half the price.

I'd never seen a scan of this card before I bought it — not on PSA, not on TCDB, not anywhere. The only reason I knew what it was is that I'd seen the same picture used in a ‘77 Phillies tri-fold brochure. The eBay listing simply called it “Mike Schmidt autographed photo,” but it's actually a facsimile signature.

Most people use eBay. This collector uses forensic reconstruction.

This is technically a Mike Schmidt collectible in the same way that driving past Bruce Springsteen’s house counts as attending a concert.

If Mike Schmidt gets any smaller in this photo, you'll need to collect him with a telescope.

These cards are one step above trash, but they're also kind of cool. My copy was clearly ripped out of a sticker album. Practically impossible to find in good condition.

Every example looks like it lost a fight with a third grader.
1977 WILSON SPORTING GOODS MINI POSTER MIKE SCHMIDT
Owned ✅, PSA Grade: 2

I'd been looking for this one for a while. When a seller cut his asking price by half, I jumped. It's a low grade, but it has a PSA population of 2 as of June, 2026. Unsure about other grading services, but I think it's safe to say these are pretty rare. Of course, now that I write that, someone will come out of the woodwork with a stack of them.
Strange fact about this mini poster: At some point after it came out, Rawlings poached Schmidt. But the most audacious thing they did was use the exact same photo for a poster the very next year, even though Schmidt is apparently wearing a Wilson A2000 in the image.

Population 2. In hobby terms, that's roughly three weeks away from somebody posting, "Found a case of these in Grandpa's basement. Any value?”

The German version made the same mistake as the French. At this point we're no longer dealing with a translation error. We're dealing with an international home run cover-up.
