As a former photojournalist, I love looking at old wire prints, and I finally decided to buy one for one reason in particular — the crop marks. See that black mark in the top right border? That's where a Sporting News photo editor suggested how to crop the image in print, which makes me chuckle because it removes the only other visible face in the photo. Poor guy. It subtly coveys the idea that Mike Schmidt and some other guys won the World Series. Not you 😂. Imagine celebrating a World Series championship only to be told by a guy with a grease pencil that your face is distracting from the story.

A very hard issue to find in good shape. These 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” cards are printed on flimsy stock. And, for the Schmidt collector who has everything, you can buy the 7-Up billboard on eBay for the low low price of five grand.
